How Funds Are Used Locally
25% of the money raised in our CROP Hunger Walk is distributed to local hunger-alleviating agencies in the Austin area. The community is blessed by a variety of worthy hunger agencies. The Walk Committee makes the selection informed by the city-wide Basic Needs Coalition and consultation with service providers. These are the agencies chosen by the local CROP Hunger Walk Team to receive funds in 2013:
- Capital Area Food Bank (16%) divided as follows–
–3.5% Healthy Options for the Elderly at Blackland Neighborhood Center
–3.5% Fresh Food for Families at Greater Love Baptist Church
–3.5% Wheels of Sharing Mobile Food Pantry at SW Keys
–4.5% St. John’s Community Food Center
–1% Faith Food Pantry- Mt. Olive Baptist Church for Food Pantry (3%)
- Refugee Services of Texas- Austin Office for refugee meals (3%)
- Urban Roots for gardening project (3%)
